The Highland Bluffs Connector Trail project is one of the Focus Areas designated by the Cuyahoga County Lakefront Public Access Plan for implementation, and seeks to address ongoing erosion hazards and create a publicly-accessible all-purpose trail along a section of the “Gold Coast” shoreline in Lakewood, Ohio by exploring the potential for public-private partnerships among Cuyahoga County, the City of Lakewood, and private property owners.
The Highland Bluffs Connector Trail project will provide an accessible pedestrian- and bicycle-friendly trail along the shoreline between West 117th Street and Nicholson Avenue, and with public access points along Edgewater Drive and Lake Road. This project is advancing from Planning to ongoing Site Investigations and Preliminary Engineering, and is funded in part by the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA’s) Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP), the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Coastal Management Assistance Grant (CMAG) program, and Cuyahoga County.
