A New Round of Funding for the Healthy Urban Tree Canopy Program is Underway
The Cuyahoga County Healthy Urban Tree Canopy (HUTC) Program for 2025 was officially announced on Arbor Day, April 25. This marks the sixth year of the Healthy Urban Tree Canopy Program, with over 11,000 new trees planted in Cuyahoga County since the inception of the program. This also marks a change in program administration of the HUTC Program from County Planning to the Cuyahoga Soil & Water Conservation District (Soil & Water).
There are changes incorporated into the HUTC Program for 2025 that will make it easier for applicants to accomplish their goals. One of those changes is that the HUTC Program has moved from a reimbursable grant model to a contracted services model. This change will create efficiencies for the program and make it easier for awardees to meet their tree plan, tree planting, and tree maintenance needs.
Together with our partners at Soil & Water, the Cuyahoga County Department of Sustainability, and the Cuyahoga County Board of Health, we are excited to welcome this revitalization of the HUTC Program.
