Introducing the Cuyahoga County Greenprint

The Cuyahoga County Greenprint, a new set of planning tools, is now available. The Greenprint includes a Viewer which provides information on the locations of wetlands, stream buffer zones, steep slopes, and other natural features. Or, use the county-wide tree canopy assessment to identify areas in need of trees and places ideal for planting. Or, measure a linear distance for a future trail or acreage of land for a potential conservation project. The Greenprint also contains a Guide Book articulating recommended practices for balanced development and protection of natural assets, as well as references and resources for more detailed assistance.

We expect that this tool will assist you in the important work you do for your community every day, such as preparing planning documents, writing grant applications, creating visuals for public meetings, and in reviewing development or infrastructure projects. Please give it a try and let us know what you think!

To get started, visit the Greenprint home page and open the Viewer. Select the features you’d like to view.  Zoom in to see greater detail, even down to the parcel level.

Our staff is developing some online tutorials to make learning and use of the Greenprint easier. These tutorials will be available late fall.

Over the next few weeks we’ll be sharing showing examples of how you can use the Greenprint in your everyday work. You can follow along on Facebook and Twitter.

Please forward this message to others who might find the Greenprint useful as well.  If you have questions, please contact Elaine Price at
