The Eastern Shoreline Erosion Mitigation Plan seeks to address ongoing erosion hazards and create a publicly-accessible all-purpose trail along a section of the North Collinwood shoreline in Cleveland, Ohio by exploring the potential for public-private partnerships among Cuyahoga County, the City of Cleveland, and private property owners.
The Eastern Shoreline stretches between the Cleveland Metroparks Lakefront Reservation-Euclid Beach-Wildwood-Villa Angela and East 185th Street. Based on an analysis of current conditions and public receptivity, it is one of three Focus Areas recommended for further study by the 2022 Lakefront Public Access Plan. At present, the Eastern Shoreline Erosion Mitigation Plan is being advanced through the early stages of planning and public engagement. The study is funded in part by the Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA's) Hazard Mitigation Grant Program and is led by KS Engineers and SmithGroup.
